On October 26th, Catholic Social Services of Mobile hosted another wonderful Trunk or Treat Celebration for our neighbors and their families in our parking lot on Florida Street.
377 participants walked through to collect candy or trinkets from decorated cars and trucks with the themes of the Wild West, Scooby Doo, Star Wars, and a Little Debbie themed cake walk.
Thanks especially to all the staff, volunteers, and Advisory Board Members for their participation in this year’s event.

CSS would like to welcome John Conrad, LICSW, as part of our Clinical Counseling team!
John Conrad is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with more than 25 years of experience as a psychotherapist. He earned his undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Behavioral Science from Athens State College and his master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
John has extensive experience in marital and family systems, addictive disorders and general psychiatric disorders. He is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory and addictive medicine. He has extensive experience in the areas of program development, supervision and direct client services.
John is currently accepting new clients for counseling. He is available on Monday and Wednesday from 9am to 3pm. Please call 251-434-1550 to schedule an appointment.

Alive in You Catholic Work Camp volunteers from St. Francis of Assisi in Madison, Mississippi worked two days with CSS Staff in Mobile on a variety of projects. They packed 100 hurricane relief bags, 100 food/essential bags, shredded hundreds of old files, hung clothes in the resale shop, and distributed 100 bags of food
in a drive-thru food giveaway.
The “Hot Diggity Dog It’s June” food distribution to 100 families was completed in 48 minutes in 90+ degree weather! We are grateful to the teens, their sponsor, Maggie Spencer, and Mobile Advisory Board Member, Tina Lyons for helping us with these projects!

Catholic Social Services places infants in approved homes of married couples and single individuals. Families are assessed by agency social workers to determine their ability, readiness, and commitment for lifetime parenting.

Welcome Seminarians!
This is the 16th year, seminarians from St. John Vianney Seminary in Minnesota have chosen
to spend a portion of their winter break helping Catholic Social Services repair the homes of
elderly/disabled homeowners. Under the supervision of 10 skilled volunteer supervisors, we plan
to build two wheelchair ramps and complete other repairs on a total of 10 homes during January 23rd through the 25th. Join us in praying for good weather!
Our Home Repair Program under the capable leadership of Caroline Duncan and Lee Eilers completed 39 repair projects in 2023 which benefited 80 persons!
All Things Thrift Store joined the Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce and participated in a ribbon cutting/re-grand opening on June 14th.
The event brought in representatives from the Chamber, Wiregrass United Way, Wiregrass 2-1-1, Tri-County RSVP, and Mrs. Super Senior Alabama. WTVY & WOOF 99.7 FM covered the event and the WOOF Wolf made a special appearance!

Catholic Social Services happily announces the hiring of Mrs. Jeanie Still to lead our Disability and Ministry Services in Mobile. She is available to work with parishioners or non-parishioners who have intellectual and developmental disabilities; persons with mental illness; persons blind or visually impaired, as well as persons who are facing other physical challenges. If those in need of services are unable to come to our office, Mrs. Still is available to make a home visit. Group activities will resume in March.
Beginning March 2nd, Mrs. Still will be in the office on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
The Home Repair Program of Catholic Social Services was featured on NBC 15's McConnell Automotive's Charity Spotlight on Friday January 28, 2022. We were blessed to have the seminarians from St. John Vianney Seminary volunteering their time during their winter break to serve the community.
The mission of Catholic Social Services in the Archdiocese of Mobile is to provide service to people in need, to advocate for justice in social structures, and to call the entire church and people of good will to do the same.
